Why does the job exist? This position will provide various transactions for drivers and vehicle owners of New Mexico and all the drivers who have access to New Mexico highways.
How does it get done? This position will be responsible for the following duties:
Process credentials:
Noncommercial Driver's Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses, Permits, Identification Cards, etc.
Answer phones from the public and private entities.
Receive, sort and distribute mail daily to appropriate units for processing.
Sort, scan and create batches for payments, citations, clearances, and suspensions in OPEX daily.
Complete 1st, 2nd and MICR verification in Deposit 21.
Monitor and complete items assigned work queues daily.
Processing citation payments.
Completing deposit (21 deposits).
Processing Military licenses.
Completing missing and mismatched payment suspense work queues daily.
Processing drivers and vehicle records requests to include subpoenas and Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests.
Keep track of daily emails received for returned credentials, send out returned credentials, file returned credentials, pick up the mail and destroy as necessary.
This position is expected to uphold excellence in customer service as Motor Vehicle offices are most often the citizen's first experience with state government in New Mexico.
This position is trained on complex transactions regarding issuance of federally compliant credentials, ownership documents on titles, reinstatement and suspension of credentials, and issuances of medical denials and concerns to name the most common transactions.
This requires understanding, interpretation, and implementation of federal law, state statutes and administrative code.
Each transaction processed by this position will require extensive understanding of the parameters that allow to get the credential needed so that the position can skillfully relay the information back to the customers.
This position is expected to deliver quality work, collaboration with the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) management, coworkers and the public in delivering quality transactions with proficiency and a sense of urgency.
Who are the customers? This position serves the motoring public directly and will also provide the courts and law enforcement agencies with current and accurate record information.
Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate will have experience in:
General office support Clerical office support Administrative office support Customer service, interacting with the public and answering phones Working in a high pressure, fast-paced work environment Minimum Qualification High school diploma or GED and six (6) months of general office, clerical and/or administrative.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Must be current with all tax reporting/payment.
Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
Some standing, bending and reaching may be required.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
High pressure/stress situations.
Some travel may be required.
