The chosen candidate will be compensated at a rate of $25.00 per hour (non-negotiable). Posting Details THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME. The primary purpose of this position is to protect the GSD/Facilities Management Division's property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This position will patrol and inspect to protect against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal activity. How does it get done? Respond to calls for service for a variety of events to include unauthorized person(s) in a building, special events such as a board meeting, or removal of an inactive employee. Secure a highly controlled environment to ensure safeguarding of property against fire, theft vandalism and illegal activities. Monitor CCTV and Badge access systems to monitor staff, visitors and vendors in buildings to ensure safety, crowd control and approved access in FMD buildings. Develop and maintain security procedure manuals. Who are the customers? New Mexico State employees and visitors to State buildings. Ideal Candidate Experience in security or law enforcement and police reporting procedures. Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment. Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols. Surveillance skills and detail oriented. Good judgement, integrity and professionalism. Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND # of months or years of experience specified in the minimum qualification 2 Associate's Degree AND Zero years of experience Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position. If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of semester hours in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours. Employment Requirements Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess & maintain a current & valid New Mexico driver's license. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions Work may be performed in either cold or hot temperatures (55-80 deg.) Candidate should be comfortable with shifts in unoccupied buildings. Some lifting (up to 50lbs.) exposure to computer CRTs, and office environments. Prolonged walking, standing or running in emergency situations. Physically able to assist in restraining an average adult weighing approximately 150 pounds. Respond to and monitor potentially dangerous, violent or escalating situations. Prolonged exposure to inclement weather and other adverse conditions. Willing to work nights, weekends and be in Call Back Status. Supplemental Information
