Summary:
The Development Associate is a key role in writing grants and managing reporting, deadlines, and follow-ups.
The position tracks donor stewardship using The Food Depot's CRM and is the point person for donor database management, reporting, and maintenance.
The ideal candidate is a thought partner for the Director of Development in creating a comprehensive development plan, fundraising program, and executing best practices.
PRINCIPAL
Responsibilities:
Leading role in the preparation of grants and reporting for recurring grant opportunities and new submissions with an award of $10,000 and under Assists the Director of Development with the preparation of major grant proposals, including ensuring strategic alignment, the creation of supporting documents, attachments, and reporting Tracks grant recipient letters and contracts, enters relevant reporting dates on a shared calendar, and enters/uploads all necessary grant information into the Salesforce database Manages grant submission calendar and reporting deadlines to ensure all timely applications Assists and supports the Director of Development with donor stewardship recommendations, activities, and tracking donor touches Assists and supports the Director of Development with Planned Giving strategy, engagement, and activities Communicates donor, corporate, and grant publicity requests to the Communications Manager for e-news, website, and social media.
Helps to develop communications around fundraising successes, grants awarded, and donor stewardship events Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects to match The Food Depot's priorities Work cross-departmentally to assemble and submit grant applications by due date Under the direction of the Development Director; works with the Finance Associate to ensure optimal data entry standards and data management best practices in Salesforce; including managing the policies and procedures in the Salesforce User Manual Updates the Salesforce User Manual as instance updates and best practices require Responsible for routine/advanced data/system maintenance and reporting of Salesforce data to support the Development Director and, indirectly, the Board and Leadership Team Performs related duties as required or assigned to support Development Director; assists other departments as requested; may work evenings and weekends, as needed Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests.
Complies with all The Food Depot policies, procedures and systems.
Is consistently at work and on time.
Supports growth of The Food Depot's rural food distribution programs as needed Performs related duties as required or assigned; assists other departments as requested; may work evenings and weekends, as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years in a development role, preferably with a nonprofit organization The ability to aspire to big picture outcomes while taking the next detail-oriented steps Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational capacity, desire to support others, and interpersonal skills Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player; must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity Must be computer literate.
