87 Hourly $34,932 - $55,891 Annually This position is a Pay Band 55 Purpose of Position Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to assist walk-in customers within the Secretary of State's Business Services Division, to provide information and guidance on business transactions and applications for requested services such as notary applications and apostilles.
How does it get done? Providing customer service in person; knowing and applying statutes, rules and regulations that apply to common business transactions that are under the administration of the office.
This position requires moderate knowledge of statutes, acts, rules, and regulations, administered by the office.
Position must interact with all levels of customers who may have limited knowledge of requirements; must be able to provide information and guidance in a clear, concise and accurate way.
Who are the customers? Customers of the Secretary of State Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has good customer service skills, can read, interpret and explain rules and statutes to a lay person; conducts themselves in a courteous and professional manner in person; has strong writing skills to convey requirements and corrective action to customers.
Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage.
Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
