Why does the job exist? The Education Administrator - Advanced (Professional Development) position in the Public Education Department's, Special Education Bureau conducts compliance monitoring as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B (IDEA-B) and State special education rules and regulations.
In addition, this position specializes in the delivery of professional development to Special Education Bureau staff and local education agency special education personnel.
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
How does it get done? Conduct compliance monitoring and enforcement by examining local education agency (LEA) data submissions Provide targeted technical assistance Initiate and monitor general supervision corrective action Process and approve annual sub-recipient grant awards Assist Fiscal with the program portion of request for re-reimbursements Assist Fiscal with the program portion of budget adjustment requests Lead AMP for special education Lead dropout prevention for special education.
Who are the customers? Students with disabilities are the principal customers.
Other stake-holders are local education agencies, internal customers up to and including the New Mexico Public Education Department's Secretary of Education.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for the Education Administrator - Advanced (A) (Secondary Transition SPP13) position will have program administrator experience or direct experience in this occupation.

Experience analyzing data 2.
Experience examining conducting data reviews associated compliance monitoring and/or data validation 3.
Proficient using Micro-Soft Office products 4.
Proficient using Operating Budget Management System (OBMS) 5.
Proficient using Student Teacher Accountability Reporting System (STARS) 6.
Strong communicator (oral and written) 7.
Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B 8.
Skills in coordinating project activity Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
